Free admission to the Pig Gig during annual Celebrity Cook Off Friday
BAY CITY - The aroma alone can attract fans at Veterans Memorial Park on Friday afternoon.
This is where the annual Celebrity Rib Cook Off, a charity event organized under the four-day festival Pig Gig is underway. The festival is Thursday through Sunday.
"People can come and enjoy some of the ribs, and all the money of their purchases go directly to the charities involved," said Labadie Pig Gig organizer Wendy Dore.
Admission is free, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.for Cook-off Friday, and everyone is invited to watch the teams of local media celebrity competition.
Presented by State Farm and co-sponsored by Alliance Healthcare and John P. Distribution O'Sullivan, the Pig Gig was established as a fundraiser to benefit area organizations.
The weekend will be full to eat ribs and performances by acts such as country singer Phil Vassar, the Georgia Satellites and Saving Abel.
Friday, teams of local media personalities, domestic competitors and a charity barbecue will meet beneficiaries flat until noon.
For example, the art of Lewis WSGW-AM, Pati LaLonde freelance photographer The Bay City Times Michael Randolph barbecue and Big Show will compete this year for the Boys & Girls Clubs.
Diners can then vote for their favorites. The first 100 voters will receive a gift bag shopping center in Bay City.
"The mall is really stepping up this year," said Dore. "They have always had a great gift bags with coupons and goodies, but this year they are giving away gift cards at prices between $ 5 and $ 200. "
Festival hours are 4 to 23 hours Thursday, from noon to midnight Friday, 11 amat midnight on Saturday and from 11:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Tickets are available at locations Labadie Auto Co., State Farm participating agencies and online at piggig.com for $ 5 per day or $ 17 for the weekend.
Admission at the door is $ 10, free for children 12 and under.
