Airlie chef breaks world record
Airlie Beach Hotel chef Ben Stewart is the owner of North Queensland's most recent world record in the marathon, after an effort in the kitchen during the Salon de Bowen last month.
A Guinness World Records judge was on hand to certify the efforts of Ben as he smashed the previous record by nearly eight hours, recording 31.5 hours of continuous cooking.
Ben cooked over 50 dishes in the kitchen in its path, including the banana cake, a pig on a spit, and a variety of stews.
Under the rules, you had to have two dishes on the go at any point in time.The food should be consumed, so the plates of food were sold for $ 10, with the distribution in the society of the spectacle, Rotary and Zonta.
"To break the mark previously held for 24 hours and a half has been very satisfying," said Ben.
"I really feel that we posted a record to be held for some time.
"The last guy to hold the record life in India and we have not heard if he plans to get it back."
Airlie Beach Hotel fellow employee Dan Farr will visit Vietnam this month to attend the Asia-Pacific Championship Bar Pro.
Whitsunday contender will join bartenders from across the region, to impress the judges with a choreographed routines demonstrating skill and ability while keeping the movement of bottles and pouring drinks for seven minutes.
"My goal when I started taking more seriously flairing bar was to be able to attract a crowd at my bar without losing speed," said Dan.
"I had some friends who were also at work in it, so we try to get to another to see who could remove the most outrageous tricks, without letting service standards slip, or not be cracked in the head by a flying bottle. I broke my cheekbone once.
