Regina Arriola's Travel Diary: Arriving in Milan
After a long day of travel from London to Milan, I arrived at the airport Milan Malpensa noon. By getting settled, I decided to take a walk through the neighborhood of my hotel, Porta Garibaldi. The Milanese take "aperitivo" (think of the happy hour) every day between 6 and 22 hours. Once people have left work, all restaurants offer unlimited bites with drinks. Via Garibaldi is filled with restaurants like this, creating a picturesque image of the typical Italian life, moving at a much slower pace than life in London.
The middle of July in Milan is very friendly and always making it difficult to follow the tour, especially when traveling on foot. I woke up my first full day in Milan and wander through the fashion district, Quadrilatero della Moda, in shorts and a linen shirt Breezy leopard print. Here you can find every imaginable retail designer: Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford, Jil Sander, and a chain of outlet stores. The impressive Duomo di Milano, where the sculpture of Leonardo da Vinci is located near Piazza della Scala, is within walking distance of shops. The beauty of the Duomo is inconceivable.The Gothic cathedral occupies the most central location in Milan, where the streets are either circle or go around it.
It is also clear that the heart of Milan is in fashion, especially in detail. The industry in Milan. The clothing of a typical Italian man is unique, decorated and adapted. The women are elegant, but easy to live with their flowing dresses and classic. Women rely heavily on accessories to complement their looks and wear neutral colors like beige, olive green and black. For lunch, I stopped at Armani Caffé close and snacked on a salad of prosciutto e Melone.Although it is a beautiful space, it is the kitchen scene.
Finally, my day ended with dinner in the beautiful garden of the Bulgari Hotel. Same story as lunch. The hotel / Caffè is a spectacular space, but is worth visiting for the scenery rather than food. On the agenda for the rest of the week are the Museo della Moda IL, a visit to Porta Romana to see the exhibition of Anish Kapoor, and walk through it Triennale. Stay tuned!
